Schedule of Monthly Match Dates for2008: January 5 February 2 March 1 April 5 May 3 Work Party
Annual Match May 10 and 11, with Side Matches on Friday, May 9

Notice: The new ammo minimums that were established at the 2007 T/G Summit will take effect at End of Trail, 2008. These minimum power standards will include a "Power Factor" of 60, and include a minimum muzzle velocity of 400fps. These minimums apply ONLY to smokeless powder loads, and NOT to black powder. A suspected illegal load will be tested by Match Officials by taking 5 rounds from a shooters firearm (rifle or pistol) and pulling the bullet from one round. The bullet will be weighed. The other 4 rounds will be shot by raising the firearm to an 80 degree angle to settle the powder against the primer flash-hole and firing the rounds through a standard chronograph to determine the velocity. The velocity times the bullet weight, divided by 1000 gives the Power Factor. If ONE of the tested rounds meets the minimum standard, ALL rounds are considered legal. If none pass, the penalty is a 30 second "Spirit of the Game" for the stage at which the test is made and the shooter has the option of then switching ammo or continuing to use the same ammo on the next stage where he/she will again receive a 30 second "SotG" penalty. Two Spirit of the Game penalties equal a Match DQ.
Not sure if your new "short-stroked" '66 or '73 is "SASS-Legal" under the new rules? Go to the "News" Page and click on the SASS Firearms Covenants line and read all the new rules.Don't know how to measure the "allowed lever throw distance?" Go to the "News" page and click on the "Lever Measurement" link.
INFORMATION On Annual Matches Held by Other CAS Clubs in the area will be posted HERE as soon as that information is received.
Well, now that we're all caught up on our ammunition reloading to replenish what we shot up during the 2007 "Annual Match Season", we can start looking forward to some of the fun "annuals" coming up for 2008. Those of you that traveled to "Winter Range" down in Arizona and "End of Trail" in New Mexico already have tales to tell and bragging rights for those BIG matches.
Well, what do we have coming up for those of us that don't have the time or ability to wander so far down the trail?
Let's keep sharp by competing in as many of the local club matches as we can. The Table Rock Rangers are now shooting TWICE a month, the 1st Sunday and 2nd Saturday of each month!! Keep your powder dry!Sweetwater Jack
